How We Research Mag Drills

Updated September 7, 2026

We start with the operation: required hole diameter and depth, available clearance, power supply and mounting surface. Those requirements determine which product specifications matter. Annular capacity, twist-drill capacity, stroke and cutter depth are distinct measurements.

Manufacturer product pages and exact-model manuals provide the technical evidence. We distinguish US versions from regional variants, bare tools from kits, and permanent magnets from electromagnetic bases. Conflicting or missing facts stay visibly uncertain. A marketplace title does not override a manual.

We do not physically test these products and do not publish invented performance scores, reliability ratings or buyer-review stars. Recommendations describe documented fit and tradeoffs. A model that has not been matched to an Amazon listing can still receive a sourced guide; any alternative product links are labeled as alternatives.

Amazon product links and images come from our product catalog workflow. Product prices, delivery and availability can change; use the Amazon destination for the current offer. Accessories are shown only as choices to inspect, not as universal fits.

The Finder checks documented capacity and selected power constraints. Its output is a shortlist, not permission to operate. The cutter checker tests the named interface family; it does not verify all dimensions, tolerances, workpiece conditions or manufacturer approvals.
