Evolution lists a coolant-tank system, guard, safety strap, chuck with key and carry case on the current US product page. The retained instructions support a 3/8-inch minimum plate thickness. The larger annular rating does not relax the mounting requirement or resolve surface condition, curvature and restraint questions.

What the EVOMAG42 adds—and what it does not

A recurring mix of 1-inch and 1-1/2-inch holes makes the EVOMAG42 the only one of this pair that passes the diameter gate. A 2-inch requirement rules out both. Because the listed weight and magnet footprint are the same, the S28MAG does not present a documented carrying-weight advantage; its narrower machine width may help only where the measured access envelope confirms it.

The extra diameter also does not create another gear. If cutter material or diameter calls for a different speed, compare a multi-speed model before treating 1-5/8-inch capacity as the complete decision. After capacity passes, measure base placement, feed-handle access and overhead height at the actual hole location.

Resolve the chuck-and-adapter conflict before ordering

Evolution's current US page lists a chuck with key among the included items, but its accessory table separately says the HTA47 adapter is required to fit the HTA153 chuck. The page does not clearly establish whether that adapter is in every retail package. Treat the exact box contents as unresolved until the seller or current package documentation confirms both pieces; a 1/2-inch twist-drill capacity does not by itself prove a ready-to-use chuck setup.

• Stop if the required annular hole exceeds 1-5/8 inches.
• Stop if the planned cutter/material combination requires a speed outside the single 450 RPM setting.
• Confirm whether the exact package includes both the 1/2-inch chuck and the HTA47 adapter required to fit it.
• Do not transfer S28MAG package contents or accessory photos to the EVOMAG42 offer.
