The S28MAG/EVOMAG42 maintenance instructions say excessive sparking can indicate motor dirt or worn carbon brushes and direct suspected cases to a qualified technician. The manual does not make every instance of sparking a confirmed brush diagnosis.

Evolution sells a pair of carbon brushes specifically listed for the S28MAG. A compatible parts listing helps identify an available service item; it does not establish that this is the failed component or override the manual's service direction.

Prepare the model and symptom information

Photograph the complete rating label and record the purchase date, serial number and any prior repair. Explain whether the reported problem is visible sparking, intermittent running, failure to start or another change. Include when it began and whether a particular operation preceded it.

Avoid running the drill again solely to estimate the amount of sparking. If you already have a safe observation, describe it. If you do not, report the known symptom and let the technician decide which checks are appropriate.

Compare a complete repair with a parts-only purchase
